We are really pleased to have secured a place on BeFirst new framework, with a talented team led by Mae Architects. Barking and Dagenham Council’s regeneration arm, BeFirst, intend to use the framework to deliver 3500 socially rented homes in the borough.
Our team includes Fisher Cheng Architects, WSP and Planit. Collectively we look forward to designing much-needed housing solutions that simultaneously respond to climate breakdown and the affordability crisis. Our bid for the framework focused on the idea of a ‘Lifetime Neighbourhood’ from both an environmental and social perspective. This involved using whole-life carbon assessments to creatively explore how underutilised brownfield sites could be adapted to contain a variety of typologies, allowing residents to both grow up and grow older on site.
We look forward to working with BeFirst to build on these early ideas, designing and delivering homes and neighbourhoods that Barking’s communities can take pride in.
