Emer qualifies as a Passivhaus Designer

We are pleased to announce that our Associate Emer Loraine qualified as a Certified Passivhaus Designer at the end of 2023, having successfully completed the rigorous training and examination process. Emer is passionate about designing buildings which have a light touch on their surroundings, utilising passive processes and responding to their specific environmental contexts. Having also been involved in existing building retrofits at the practice and holding a diploma in retrofit co-ordination, Emer was keen to expand on this knowledge through the Passivhaus certification for new build design.

This in house expertise enables us to apply the principles and standards of the Passivhaus methodology in a holistic approach to designing schemes that achieve high levels of thermal performance, indoor air quality and comfort - ultimately minimising the environmental impact and operational costs. As a practice, we are aiming to incorporate Passivhaus methods into the design of all our projects from masterplans to infill sites and intimate refurbishment projects to deliver healthier, low energy environments for our clients.

We continue to upskill our staff in areas of retrofit and Passivhaus to make steps towards positive and sustainable futures.
